Indie And Alternative Music, What exactly is it?

New Indie Rock
new alternative rock bands

All of us want to label everything. The arts would be the worst offenders of this propensity with virtually everything being categorized into some time to style labels. This is none more true than in "pop" music (the truth is you have the label at that time, can't get around it). This could be especially frustrating when attemping to categorize something feel can't be categorized; could it be Indie and Alternative music, or perhaps is it mainstream.

Once i think about Indie music I do think of the band jamming away in the spare room. That's it - a band! Not only a bunch of producers seeking the "Next Growing trend." The Beatles were like that, playing seven hour gigs in Hamburg, Germany. They were poor coupled with inexpensive instruments. The Beatles roomed in cheap hotels and a sizable extent blared out your tunes of these Rock n Roll idols and some original songs. Naturally we all know what went down to them - they went mainstream. Some would blame Brian Epstein for your, but it's not like the four Beatles themselves didn't want that simply because they most assuredly did.

If you think about the sixties you will need to believe the complete rock music scene was Indie since it was very counter-culture. Obviously that has been the process of the counter-culture; to make sure everyone that has been buying considered that these were buying the counter-culture and not Madison Ave. To some degree these were buying and doing the genuine article. Maybe that's true Indie music.

Then the first golden era of the producer came along and demolished that which was good. Out were trotted the sound-alike slick corporate bands. To make certain a lot of them sounded amazing; I love this guitar rock band Boston for example. The Punk era of the mid 1970's demolished the demolishers in the brazen even at times bazaar release of anti-establishment energy. Then those bands split up and died, few or no went mainstream unlike their close cousins "New-Wave."

Those bands become popular as well as a battle then raged between "New-Wave" along with the overly produced, but sort of fun, Disco. Hair Metal and Glam also took part in the other great era with the producer. Finally, plus some would say thankfully, that turned into the "Alternative" rock sound ensconced by bands for example Nirvana, Jane's Addiction, or Jesus and Mary Chain. They were the brand new Indie until the fact that was good became destroyed with the lure of income and deficiency of talent. Pseudo "alternative" grunge bands suddenly appeared and took the gorgeous landscape of seething musicians twisting it right into a sonic conformity that inspired such large selling yet forgettable bands such as "Stone Temple Pilots."

So now we have been - in one more era from the producer where over-the-top produced bands like "Fun," and singers like Bruno Mars. Rather than mind the "Indie/Alt" bands like "Foster The People" or "5 Seconds of Summer" (did anybody else notice that "Hey Everybody" was lifted from another Alternative-band gone wrong Duran Duran?) that are quickly taking on un-dynamic sound of studio overproduction.

So what exactly is it? Maybe Indie and Alternative music is one area that may only exist for a short time of time just like the element Neptunium. It might only exist as rebellion towards the conformity of overly-produced Madison Ave. commerce. Nothing wrong with Madison Ave., nevertheless the burning energy of true, if over quickly, Indie Rock is exactly what I would like.
